Responsibilities:
We are looking for an expert in roll-to-roll thin-film manufacturing technology for the production of large-area solar cells. The main responsibilities are to lead upscaling, to refine the manufacturing concept, and to support the transfer of prototype processes to industrial production.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has deep experience with managing thin-film technology and industrial roll-to-roll manufacturing in vacuum, and is also experienced in semiconductor technology (preferably large area thin films). Strong negotiation skills are required, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with equipment manufacturers, material suppliers, and process specialists. Experience in management of complex projects and a background in technology and business development are a clear advantage. The ideal candidate is a team player and flexible to take challenges in a fast growing company.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Veeco St. Paul manufacturers molecular beam epitaxy high-vacuum systems in its St. Paul facility.  These systems consist of a vacuum system, in-vacuum robot, and electronics that are built to customer configurations from a standard product line.  The systems engineer leads the successful coordination of engineering and manufacturing to delivery systems to the specific customer configuration.  Balancing engineering skills, manufacturing understanding, and customer communications, this position provides both breadth and depth in the engineering discipline.  This position is best suited to individuals that like equipment design and enjoy seeing equipment built and delivered to the success of the customers.  The systems design engineer will coordinate 3 – 5 projects per year, with each project ranging in value from $600,000 to more than $3,000,000.  The position has regular interface to all of engineering, manufacturing, and has regular contact with the executive management team.
