Call for Papers
Part of the 48th Annual Society of Vacuum Coaters Technical Conference
Denver, CO USA April 2328, 2005
As a result of last year’s successful symposium, the Smart Materials Symposium is being presented again in 2005. Our symposium focuses on new and emerging functional materials and coatings with unique intelligent properties such as indicators; protective coatings; and early warning of tampering, aging, and biological and chemical change. Presentations are solicited on coatings and processes for glass, plastic, and fabric materials. Applications include health and drug delivery systems, indicating labels, imbedded systems, authentication and security, food safety packaging, biological detection, and self-cleaning surfaces.
Two proceedings of the symposium will be published. Full papers, subject to referee approval, will be published in one of the Elsevier archival technical journals such as Materials Science and Engineering B www.elsevier.com/locate/mseb. Extended Abstracts of all presentations will be published in the 48th SVC Conference Proceedings.
Co-Sponsor: Elsevier, Oxford, UK
Organizing Committee: Carl M. Lampert, Star Science (cmlstar@sonic.net); Ric Shimshock, MLD Technologies (rshimshock4mld@aol.com); Claes G.
