The Society of Vacuum Coaters, a professional technical association committed to being the global source for learning, applying and advancing vacuum coating, surface engineering and related technologies, has released its 2010 Preliminary Program for the Conference to be held in Orlando, Florida, at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center, April 17–22, 2010.
The Society of Vacuum Coaters is preparing for an outstanding 53rd Annual Technical Conference. For the 53rd consecutive year, organizers are preparing for a TechCon that will include an impressive Technical Program, two-day Exhibit dedicated entirely to vacuum coating and related technologies, and a popular Education Program featuring 22 Tutorial courses ranging from basic science and applied technology topics to commercial manufacturing subjects.
What’s New in Vacuum Coating
One of the best reasons to attend the TechCon in Orlando is to learn how the progress in the vacuum coating field is helping to create more green jobs and enhancing the growth in new coatings with low environmental impact. Vacuum coating technologies continue to impact a wide array of applications that cut across the domain of domestic, commercial and industry products covering many fields of application – resulting in an industry that is worth over a billion dollars. These include low-E windows, flexible electronics, vapor barriers, medical devices, corrosion protection, hard coatings on tools, transparent conductive oxides (TCOs), photovoltaics (PV) solar thermal absorbers, and many decorative and tribological coatings.
Network and Learn
Conference attendees are provided with many opportunities to interact and network with other industry professionals and technologists. At SVC we believe in strong networking and creating good fellowship with new attendees. Popular events include the Technology Forum Breakfasts where you can discuss your interests with colleagues in an informal roundtable format over breakfast. In our “Meet the Experts” sessions you can discuss issues you may be having with a coating, process or equipment. In our casual style Heuréka! Post-Deadline Recent Developments evening session, we cover post deadline papers containing current news, while enjoying refreshments.
Symposium on Cleantech Energy
SVC is proud to present our Plenary speaker on Sunday evening, Dr. Peter Ward, Teton Tectonics and our Keynote speaker on Monday morning, Dr. Lars Hultman, Linköping University, Sweden. Two other well-known speakers, Dr. Gary E. McGuire and Dr. Hynek Biederman, will make presentations in the Donald M. Mattox Tutorials during the lunch hour on Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Our Symposium on Cleantech Energy will include thin film PV, smart materials, chromogenics and coatings for radiative cooling and selective solar absorption. We have several notable speakers who will give the pulse of the cleantech industry. Coordinated with the Symposium will be an Industry Forum addressing some of the key newsworthy subjects in the field of vacuum coating in general.
A Well-Rounded Technical Program
SVC offers its successful Joint Session on Atmospheric Plasmas. Presentations will be made concerning processes and application of air based plasmas. Other plasma subjects include Plasma Processing and High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HIPIMS) – techniques for making highly dense coatings.
Other focus topics include sessions on Large Area Coating – including glass coating systems for PV; Vacuum Process and Coatings for Heath Care; Tribological and Decorative Coating, Optical Coating, Vacuum Web Coating - for plastics, foil and fabric and other thin flexible products - including roll-to-roll processes for PV; Emerging Technologies including organic PV; and Process Modeling and Control.
The Only Exhibit Dedicated to Vacuum Coating
The SVC Exhibit will include nearly 200 manufacturers and suppliers of vacuum deposition equipment, analytical equipment and components. Also, we offer a Vendor Innovators Showcase where companies will introduce and discuss new products and answer questions from potential users.
Join us for a World Class Conference in a World Class Setting
Come meet the movers and shakers of the industry! Tell us about your work. We welcome applied physics and chemical professionals, engineers, materials scientists, technical experts from government laboratories and industry, and students to our conference. We strongly encourage business professionals to attend. For your enjoyment and relaxation we offer a 5K Run, a Golf Tournament, and a Networking Evening event at the Spa Terrace on the magnificent grounds of the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort.
SVC knows your conference dollars may be limited in this tough economic climate. You have many choices and we hope you will find the SVC TechCon is the best choice.
